5 Tips For A Glowy Face
Have you ever felt like you weren’t getting quite enough out of your beauty routine? If so, it might be time to shake things up and add some new products or even a few different approaches to your regimen. Our tips on how to have a glowing face can help you achieve exactly that, with tips ranging from the best ways to moisturize your skin to the right ingredients in your skincare products.
1) Use a primer
Primers help reduce the look of pores and fine lines. They fill in the gaps on your skin and make it easier for your makeup to glide on. Use primer before foundation to get a smoother finish. Choose a formula that is made for your skin type, such as oil-free, hydrating, or mattifying, depending on what you need most. Primers can also be used as a beauty product in their own right! They can be worn alone to give skin a lit-from-within glow and are often used under foundations to provide extra coverage and longevity.
2) Don't shy away from highlighter
Nothing makes your skin look and feel more radiant than a good highlighter. Here are 5 easy steps for applying:
1. Apply primer to clean, makeup-free skin. This will help keep your highlighter on all day and prevent it from rubbing off on things like your phone screen (gross!). I like to use the NARS Radiant Cream Compact Foundation with SPF 30 as my primer. It's buildable coverage that keeps my face hydrated throughout the day--perfect for dry winter weather!
2. Using your ring finger, apply a pea-sized amount of highlighter to the areas of your face you want to highlight such as cheekbones, nose bridge, chin, brow bone or cupid's bow.
3) Layer your makeup
When it comes to makeup, the most important thing to remember is that less is more. You want your face to look natural and fresh, not like you just rolled out of bed and ran out the door. Start by moisturizing your skin and use a primer before applying any foundation. The right primer will give you a luminous glow on its own or provide a great base for foundation application. Next, apply your foundation in thin layers using a sponge or brush. It's best to build coverage gradually as opposed to applying it all at once for fear of looking cakey or heavy. If desired, use concealer in conjunction with the foundation to highlight areas that need extra attention such as under-eye circles or blemishes. Now you are ready for some color!
4) Step outside with SPF
Skin is the largest organ in your body, and it does a lot for you! It covers you and protects your insides, it helps regulate your temperature, and it's your first line of defense against infection. When skin is healthy, people will notice. Here are five tips to get started on caring for your skin:
5) Care for your skin.
No matter what your skin type is, there are ways to maintain a healthy glow. The first step is to avoid harsh soaps and scrubs that can be too drying for the skin. Instead, opt for gentle soaps and scrubs that will leave your skin feeling moisturized and clean without stripping away its natural oils. Exfoliating the skin once or twice a week with a gentle scrub will not only remove dead cells from the surface but also help with breakouts. You should also wash your face before bed every night to avoid excess oil buildup on the surface of your skin during sleep. Finally, make sure you wear sunscreen every day whether you're in the sun or not-the sun's rays are just as harmful when you're indoors!
